First, let me get you all up to speed with some cut and paste action!
I'm a non-depositer except for a very small amount a while back that I more or less screwed up on. I started on Calypso with a friend and sweated a lot there. My friend quit almost immediately. I used to be in a soc called the Knights of Calypso. They helped a lot to get started but I stopped playing for a few months. Came back, relearned everything I forgot and procured a transport to RT to do the The Thing quest.
I can't describe the frustration and horrors I went through to get that mission done but Neil Stockton came and helped me get through the last bit and take me off that hellhole and to Arkadia. Did some stuff and fell off the grid for a few more months.
Lost both friends and my society due to inactivity at this point. I didn't mind much since I again had to relearn everything and try to live with my perma newb status. I sweated for a bit, fell asleep at the keyboard and again a few months went by without any EU.
I log back in to the quarry being very different and cursing at my past-self for repairing my now bright orange shirt. Needless to say the newbie quest led to a lot of things including a finding a very nice and generous mentor by almost pure chance.
Will I stick around this time? Who knows! I know I will at least honor my mentor by graduating before I poof again. That's my story thus far, see you all in-game!
